Study: Michigan ranked 9th best state for singles – Detroit Free Press

In a 2021 nationwide online dating study, WalletHub ranked Michigan ninth when it comes to the best states for those single and ready to mingle.
Using 27 metrics, the study evaluated three dimensions across states: dating economics, dating opportunities, and romance and fun. They studied metrics with COVID-19 in mind and tracked online dating.
Four key components of the study were the share of the population that is single, gender balance, online dating opportunities, and date options per capita.
In the dating opportunities category, WalletHub analyzed seven factors, including gender balance of singles, online dating participation, and states with the fewest coronavirus restrictions. Michigan ranked second in best gender balance and was 17th best.
From factors like the average price for a Starbucks Caffe Latte to the state’s unemployment rate, WalletHub assessed states’ dating economics using a 25-point system. Michigan ranked 17th here as well.
In the last category, romance and fun, the state ranked 11th out of the 50. WalletHub measured typical dating spots like restaurants, bars and movie theaters per capita, online dating safety and crime rate.
