Adopt a Stocking: Single mom with 4 children starting over – LimaOhio.com

The Adopt a Stocking Fund benefits families during the holiday season. Monetary donations can be given online at give.salvationarmy.org/stocking or via Adopt A Stocking: c/o The Salvation Army: P.O. Box 234, Lima, OH 45801. All material donations for a specific family should be dropped off at The Salvation Army, 614 E. LIMA — Mary is a mother of four children and they’re trying hard to be positive as they approach Christmas. But there’s little to be positive about.

“Back in February, my mom passed away. In September, after 13 years (of marriage), my husband decided to leave. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for the past 10 years,” Mary said. Names have been changed for this story.

On top of that, she’s had some health issues.

“I was in a bad car accident and it messed up my feet. I’ve had several surgeries on them so it’s been hard for me to work long hours because it hurts. I am working on a third surgery,” Mary said.

She’s hoping that through the Adopt a Stocking program, she can have a better Christmas for her children.

“Every year we’ve always had some type of something even with the husband present, but with him not being around I don’t know what they’ll have this
