December begins with new reported single-day record of 136 COVID-19 cases in DeKalb County – DeKalb Daily Chronicle

After a month responsible for nearly half of the coronavirus cases to date in DeKalb County, December started with a single-day record of 136 new cases reported, health officials announced on Tuesday.
There were 23 new cases reported at area long-term care facilities, including five at Prairie Crossing Living and Rehabilitation Center, all in residents. Bethany Rehabilitation and Health Care Center reported three new cases, two in staff and one in a resident. Lincolnshire reported 15 new cases, six in staff and nine in residents.
November ended with 2,338 cases reported in the county, or 44.6% of the total cases reported to date compared to 2,727 total reported in all the other months of the pandemic combined (March through October).
The seven-day rolling positivity rate in the county rose to 11.9%, the highest since Nov. 21 (12.1%), according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health. The positivity rate for Region 1, which includes DeKalb, dropped to 14.8%, down from 15% the day prior.
