While online dating was once seen as a last resort, it’s now a common way that many people meet their other half.
Now, dating app Plenty of Fish has revealed 11 hilarious new dating terms for 2021, including Tok-blocking and Barnard Castling.
Shannon Smith, Relationship and dating expert for Plenty of Fish said: “This year has brought about some major shake-ups in how people date, and with that shift comes new trends that singles are experiencing – many of them brand new.”
Plenty of Fish came up with the terms based on a survey of over 3,000 members.
Here’s a look at the dating trends to expect in 2021, as we prepare to wave goodbye to 2020.
Connell-vision – Named after Normal People’s heartthrob, Connell, Connell-vision is fancying someone based on their fashion sense.
Apocalypsihng – Treating every relationship like it’s your last
Twice Baked – When someone’s chat is twice baked and you have the same repetitive boring COVID convos (from sourdough to banana bread)
Baby Zoomers – The new ‘generation’ of babies conceived
