Following 2020 Breakout, Women’s Basketball Unveils 2020-21 Schedule – Longwood Athletics
FARMVILLE, Va. – Last season, Longwood women’s basketball pulled off one of the biggest turnarounds in the NCAA while earning the right to host a postseason game in the Big South conference tournament for the first time in team history under second-year head coach Rebecca Tillett.
Now, following an offseason affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that also pushed back the start of the 2020-21 basketball season, the Lancers are ready to stand together and take on a challenging 2020-21 schedule.
Wednesday afternoon Tillett revealed a 25-game lineup that features a 20-game Big South slate and five non-conference tilts against teams from five different conferences, including the 2020-21 season opener at ACC powerhouse Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium on Nov. 25. All 20 of those Big South matchups will air live on ESPN+.
The battle against the Blue Devils in Cameron Indoor Stadium – alma mater of Longwood assistant coach Ka’lia Johnson – will be one of two non-conference road tests for the Lancers and one of five non-conference before Big South play tips off on Dec. 14-15 against Radford. After the Duke game and following the Thanksgiving holiday, the Lancers will make their home debut in Willett Hall against East Tennessee State (ETSU) on Saturday, Nov. 28, before heading back on the road to take on regional foe George Mason on Dec. 1. The Lancers return home for their final two non-conference contests against Towson (Dec. 5) and Howard (Dec. 19).
